The most common chute design tool currently used is discrete element modelling. The other, older, design tool is lumped mass continuum modelling. This article briefly describes the two tools and looks at how they can be used to complement each other to enable the efficient design of transfer chutes.
Innovative strategies were required when presented with a variety of challenges for this large scale building foundation design. These include future proofing the foundation design for changes in design loading, as well as implementing efficient constructability solutions due to the challenging site environment.
Understanding the behavior of structural and mechanical systems through physical measurement and analysis allows ASPEC to provide meaningful advice and/or develop retrofit and repair schemes that are consistent with the owner’s objectives.
