Enhancing Safety and Resilience: Revising AS 4324.1 for Materials Handling Structures

ASPEC Director Richard Morgan presented updates on the AS 4324.1 revision at the ASEC Conference, highlighting major safety and resilience changes for materials handling structures. These revisions, due for release in 2025, set new standards for withstanding extreme weather and load demands.

Condition Rating System for Structural Integrity

Inspection of industrial structures utilises a condition rating system to track the degradation level of steel and concrete over time, using a 1 to 5 scale rating (pristine to unserviceable). The system allows for a consistent rating from any inspecting engineers. The paper gives background on the condition rating from the inspection system developed by ASPEC’s engineers.
